SHALOM FC CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF 2024 YEMI OSHE FOUNDATION FOOTBALL CUP



The 2nd edition of the Yemi Oshe Foundation Football Cup came to a thrilling conclusion on Tuesday at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, with Shalom FC emerging as champions. 

The finale saw Shalom FC and Ekiti United Feeders engage in an intense 1-1 draw after full time, with Shalom FC ultimately claiming the title via penalties, winning 8-7.

The 2024 tournament featured 24 teams - 18 from Ado Ekiti and 6 from Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area - with approximately 460 players participating. Over the course of the competition, 61 goals were scored, 4 red cards were shown, and 20 yellow cards were issued.



Individual honors were awarded to outstanding players, including:


- Most Valuable Player (MVP): Peter Abiodun (Ekiti United Feeders)

- Best Keeper: Ajibulu Segun (Shalom FC)

- Highest Scorer: Falokun Ayobami (Shalom FC)

- Young Player of the Competition: Afolasade Victor (Ile Ona FC)


In the third-place match held earlier on Monday, Copdem FC defeated Ile Ona 2-0, securing the bronze medal.


The winning teams received cash prizes and medals:

•⁠  ⁠1st Position (Shalom FC): ₦300,000 and championship medals

•⁠  ⁠2nd Position (Ekiti United Feeders): ₦200,000 and runner-up medals

•⁠  ⁠3rd Position (Copdem FC): ₦100,000 and bronze medals




Dignitaries present at the finals included:

- Royal Father of the Day: Olufaki Oba John Adegbenro Falore

- Commissioner for Job Creation: Hon. Deji Ogunakin

- Technical Advisor to the State Governor on Sports Development: Hon. Mrs. Osetoba Sola

- Israel Adesokan Jaru, Ekiti State Ssa on traffic to mr Governor 

- Aare Oloworemo, Football Association Chairman Ekiti state 

- Chief Odoloro of Ado Ekiti

- Deji Samo, former Sports Council Chairman

- Several Local Council Chairmen across the state

The successful completion of the 2nd edition of the Yemi Oshe Foundation Football Cup underscores the foundation's commitment to promoting grassroots football development in Ekiti State.
