The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) strike has thrown a spanner in the works of the Super Eagles' preparations for their FIFA World Cup qualifying match against South Africa on June 7.
While 15 players reported for duty at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Monday morning, eight others are stranded due to the strike, which has grounded domestic flights.
The training session, led by head coach Finidi George, focused on fitness, shooting drills, and tactical sessions. However, the absence of key players like Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Paul Onuachu. has raised concerns about the team's readiness for the crucial match.
With South Africa's team facing similar travel challenges, there are fears that the match may be forfeited, potentially resulting in Nigeria being walked over.
