Nigeria's Flamingos Edge Dominican Republic, Face USA in Quarterfinals

Nigeria's U17 Women's team, the Flamingos, sealed a quarterfinal berth at the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup with a thrilling 1-0 victory over hosts Dominican Republic.

Shakirat Moshood's stunning 89th-minute strike from long range effort secured the win, her fourth goal of the tournament.

The Flamingos maintained their perfect record, winning all three group matches. Coach Bankole Olowookere's squad began with a 4-1 triumph over New Zealand and followed up with a 4-0 victory against Ecuador.

A highly anticipated rematch awaits, as Nigeria faces the United States on Saturday. The two teams previously clashed in 2022 in India, with Nigeria emerging victorious on penalties. The USA secured their quarterfinal spot with a resounding 5-0 win over Korea Republic.
